Leon Howe

Leon Howe is the Incubation Manager at Durham City Incubator (DCI) and the delivery lead for Durham Startups, where he plays a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurial growth across County Durham.

With over 30 years of experience in business support, Leon has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors, helping businesses of all types and sizes, from ambitious startups to established global leaders, achieve their full potential.

Throughout his career, Leon has developed a reputation as a trusted adviser, combining strategic insight with hands-on mentoring to guide entrepreneurs through the complexities of launching and scaling their ventures. Under his leadership, DCI founders have collectively raised over £10 million in investment, showcasing the transformative impact of his expertise and dedication.

Leon’s professional journey includes running two businesses of his own and serving as a Non-Executive Director for a Counselling CIC. He has also held key roles within local government, including Gateshead Council, Newcastle City Council, and currently Business Durham (Durham County Council).

These experiences have equipped him with deep knowledge of business strategy, marketing, innovation, and the unique challenges faced by enterprises in the North East.
