Histables are initially a set of collectable badges, which resemble the history of railways, traditional attractions and other heritage throughout Stanley including Tanfield Railway, Beamish Museum and Hall, and the Causey Arch. Some people collect little things like this and enjoy it based on the research which we have done, so this is a good idea and can show off our history. There will be a collection to start with that people visit which represent the landmarks in Stanley and when they’ve been there, they will buy the badge to show they’ve visited that place. We want to encourage families to walk around the area and visit all of the places, whilst helping other businesses in the town who may stock them, and could benefit from extra visitors into the town. It represents the history of Stanley and how the badges are a collectable.’’ We stand for helping people, particularly children and families, to get outside and travel and learning about the legacy in our town. We also want to reduce time on screens and make sure our history is not forgotten with the younger generation. This may be different to other businesses as some people have only interest in money, but we would like to help people and have a social side of the business. We also want to make sure that we have other future developments for the business like the walking trails to collect the badges; the geocaching and scanning for information at each site and the link with other local businesses to stock the badges to benefit from more footfall and passing trade in the town.
